A survey was conducted for the purpose of creating a scale to measure the learning process of students when engaged with demonstrative report writing. We developed the demonstrative report writing scale DRAW9 (Demonstrative Report based on Academic Writing 9) consisting of two factor-9 items, namely, a regulation strategy factor and a help seeking strategy factor. These were based on a factor analysis of data from 144 college students writing argumentative reports. The scale structure was analyzed in relation to the report thesis.
